The estate

Terrazas de Los Andes is the story of adventurers who made bold decisions at a time when Argentina's winemaking expertise was not yet known. These pioneers and explorers in love with the remarkable landscapes of Mendoza aspired to reveal the terroirs of the Andes through fine wines worthy of being exported.

The vineyard

In Mendoza, only 15% of the vineyards are cultivated above 1,000 meters in cool climate conditions. Terrazas has an unparalleled set of high altitude vineyards in 7 of Mendoza's best appellations, including the highest one: El Espinillo in the Uco Valley.

After 30 years of experience, the teams have identified a great diversity of terroirs leading them to divide their vineyards into 200 plots. Each plot is managed individually, from viticulture to vinification. Thanks to this expertise, the Terrazas team has acquired a unique knowledge of the diversity of Mendoza's terroirs.

Since water is a precious resource in Mendoza, Terrazas has developed an expertise in drip irrigation since the 1990s. While only 20% of the producers in the region control their irrigation as precisely, Terrazas is now a reference in Mendoza with 90% of the vineyards irrigated with drip irrigation.

The Vintage

The Malbec Reserva, a fresh, lively and fruity wine, is the mainstay of the Terrazas Reserva range, blending more than 100 parcels from our 8 high altitude Malbec vineyards. Our passionate team organically cultivates a mosaic of more than 200 vineyard terraces at high altitude in a place where the earth meets the sky. Terrazas de los Andes wines are made from estate-grown, sustainably farmed mountain fruit to capture the fresh, pure taste of the Andes.

The Malbec Reserva is rare because it is made from the best appellations in the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo.

The 2021 vintage was characterized by below average temperatures during the ripening season and slightly above average rainfall during the key months of January through March. This cool vintage, rather early for Terrazas, allowed the grapes to develop intense color and a bright fruit profile, with a vibrant and elegant palate.

Tasting Notes

Eye, bouquet, palate

On the nose, fresh and intensely fruity aromas are revealed, composed of black and red fruits such as blackberry, plum and strawberry. Subtle notes of violets and mountain spices, typical of the cold Malbec climate, are also apparent. On the palate, it has a beautiful, vibrant, layered length. The palate is fresh and polished.
