The estate

Newton Vineyard was born from the vision of Peter Newton, an eclectic Englishman and lover of wine and nature, who believed in the potential of hillside vineyards to produce great French-inspired wines in the Napa Valley.

Newton Vineyard has made it its mission to listen carefully to each vineyard plot and sub-plot in order to translate the important and distinctive messages they send.Newton has always worked in harmony with nature. Peter Newton believed that only unfiltered wines expressed the true essence of the fruit, with rich texture and full, uncompromising flavors.

The process involves using natural methods to clarify the wine without going through filtration, which can remove aromas, colors and structure. Even today, all Newton wines are unfiltered.

The vineyard

The precise plot-by-plot approach Newton uses to cultivate its vineyards extends to the winery, as these essentially natural, non-interventionist winemaking techniques gently nurture the fruit to its fullest, most intense and harmonious expression.

The harvest is done exclusively by hand, in several passages, which allows an optimal maturity of each bunch.

Each parcel is fermented individually to allow it to develop its specific character.

The Vintage

Round and robust, yet full-bodied, Unfiltered Chardonnay 2018 is made from a blend of sustainably grown Chardonnay grapes from Carneros Estate, between Napa and Sonoma, and Rutherford Estate, in the heart of Napa Valley.



The start of the season was punctuated by heavy rains, which soaked the soil and started the growing season. Mild spring temperatures delayed flowering and fruit set slightly, while the mild, sunny summer allowed the grapes to develop perfect ripeness and uniformity. These climatic variations allowed us to obtain a refined and complex vintage combining length and freshness.

Tasting Notes

Eye, bouquet, palate

This wine has a light straw color with subtle green nuances.

The nose first reveals iodine notes, followed by aromas of peel, citrus, blackberry and white flowers.

The palate is fresh and clean, with density and fullness supported by bright acidity. The finish is creamy, complex and long.
