WINE ENTHUSIAST

The estate

The winery Kirrenbourg was created in 2015 thanks to the meeting of passionate people wanting to highlight the Alsatian terroirs full of potential. The engagement took every year is producing Great wines thanks to meticulous work in the vineyard, low-yield and biodynamic culture, the key to achieve our greatness goal.

The vineyard

The winery owns 10 hectares of Grands Crus : 7 hectares on Grand Cru Schlossberg and 3 hectares of Grand Cru Brand with 2 grapes-variety representing 75% of our production with 51% of Riesling and 24% of Pinot Noir. Vinifying plots separately allows us to produce 3 different level of wine :
- The first wine is Grand Cru Schlossberg
- The second wine is Terroir S
- The third wine is Kaysersberg Roche Granitique

The wine-making process happens in the most natural way, unadorned in order to preserve all the work performed beforehand. With perpetual questioning on our wines quality that we choose to acquire avant-garde material: non-standard wine-making component, micro vats, …

The vintage

Straw-yellow white wine, the nose expresses the typicity of terroir Schlossberg. Delicate fragrance of well-ripened citrus and lemon-zest on the second nose. Stone fruit flavours on the palate. The finish is long and precise on noble bitters.

Throughout the year, the weather conditions were terrible! During the first 7 months, Alsace recorded the equivalent of a full year of rainfall, allowing the soils to replenish their water reserves. Despite this, the vegetative cycle went well.

Despite the heavy rainfall, the sanitary condition was preserved. The summer saw the return of more stable, warmer and above all drier climatic conditions. From the end of July, the temperatures soared, causing even the lightest soils to slow down ripening. The few episodes of hail had hardly any consequences because the high temperatures immediately dried the affected berries, thus facilitating their healing. Towards the end of August, too few rains came to relieve the vines, thus making it possible to perfect the maturities.
