The estate

Château du Taillan is a family-owned estate since 1896, but today, above all, it is a modern history related by women. Five sisters now hold the reins of the Château, located at Bordeaux and Médoc’s doorstep. Each with their personality, they write the property’s history and perpetuate this viticulture’s passion and historic patrimony. It’s with this feminine aura, that Château du Taillan managed to renew itself over time. Its wine, charming, strong and full of its owners’ history, saw sustainable agriculture and an important wine & tourism activity arise as well as many other surprises you must discover!

"A feminine property that has been passed from father to son until my generation, the fourth, where we are five sister owners."

Armelle Cruse, manager and co-owner.`

the vineyard

The terroir is clay and limestone, ideal for Merlot and atypical for the Médoc. The property extends over 120 hectares, 28 of which are vineyards. It is the first château on the Médoc road from Bordeaux, in the commune of Taillan-Médoc. Our vineyard and its management are also part of a responsible and environmentally friendly approach. Thus, our team favours the most natural methods. This commitment is also reflected in the controlled management of winegrowing effluents, our water and electricity consumption, the recycling of our waste and the working conditions of our teams. This is a daily task, with regular upgrades in the materials used, the people and our vineyard. This dynamic allows us to set ambitious objectives, which we ask all our partners, suppliers and neighbours to adhere to.

"An atypical terroir for the Médoc"

Armelle Cruse, manager and owner

The Vintage

Each vintage is a new adventure, each year a new challenge, but this constancy in the search for quality always remains. The owners like to produce a charming, powerful and balanced wine, which corresponds to the style of their terroir.

2012 in Bordeaux was a year with disrupted weather but thanks to the early Merlot grape variety and the work of our vineyard team, a well-balanced and charming vintage was born.
